SUMMARY:Codman Square NDC Donuts with Delegates 🍩
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations (MACDC) supports CDCs across the state in inviting their state legislators to meet with them in their neighborhoods. Legislators\, CDC staff\, board members\, and community members get together over coffee\, breakfast\, and/or donuts to discuss what bills and state budget items will help their community thrive. \nThese meetings are win-win events: Legislators learn about what is happening in their district and how they can help as policymakers. CDCs can showcase the work they are doing and hear what their legislators are focusing on. Most importantly\, participants build relationships with each other. These relationships are what really makes good policy happen! All three of FICC’s member-CDCs are hosting a Donuts with Delegates meeting this year\, and residents from their service areas are welcome to join us! Your voice matters\, and we hope to see you there! Don’t know who your state policymakers are? Find out here: https://malegislature.gov/ \nPrimary neighborhoods: Central Dorchester & Mattapan. Which legislators represent this area?* Senator Nick Collins\, Senator Liz Miranda\, Representative Russell Holmes\, Representative Chris Worrell\, Representative Dan Hunt\, Representative Brandy Fluker-Reid \n*We cannot guarantee every legislator listed will be in attendance*

SUMMARY:2026 FICC Extreme Heat Preparedness Workshop
DESCRIPTION:As climate change continues to increase global temperatures\, extreme heat events are becoming more frequent and severe. Heat waves can pose serious health risks\, particularly for vulnerable populations such as children\, older adults\, and individuals with preexisting health conditions. \nThe Fairmount Corridor — Dorchester\, Roxbury\, Mattapan and Hyde Park — has some of the hottest summertime temperatures in Boston. It is essential for communities to be prepared with the knowledge and resources needed to stay safe during extreme heat events — and we’re here to help! \nJoin our 2026 Extreme Heat Preparedness Workshop on Saturday\, June 27 from 1-4pm for an informative and engaging session focused on equipping attendees with tips\, tools\, and strategies to manage and mitigate the risks associated with extreme heat. Participants will learn practical ways to stay cool\, how heat impacts us\, how to recognize signs of heat-related illnesses\, how climate change effects extreme heat\, and how to access local resources to protect themselves and their families. \n\nWe will also be giving away 75 free Heat Safety Kits\, which will include essential items such as electrolyte packets\, water bottles\, UV-protective accessories\, and other supplies to help you stay cool. Kits will be given away on a first-come first-served basis. Everyone is welcome\, but we will limit folks to two (2) Heat Safety Kits per family to maximize our impact across the community. \nAdditionally\, we will be raffling off 5 window-unit Air Conditioners for free (every adult attendee gets one free raffle ticket)! \n\nThis year\, we will also host a Resource Fair with local organizations and city and state program providers\, offering attendees direct access to services that support lowering your energy costs\, staying cool affordably\, and preparing for extreme heat and other climate-related emergencies.\n \nLanguage Access: Spanish interpretation will be available during the workshop. While the presentation materials will not be translated\, simultaneous interpretation will be provided during the presentation and as needed throughout the rest of the event to ensure attendees can access key information\, ask questions\, and engage with resources throughout the event. Some Resource Fair tablers will also have staff present who are multi-lingual\, and/or they will have Spanish materials to give out.\n\n\nChildcare: Childcare will be provided during the event. If you are interested in childcare services\, please indicate this in the RSVP form so we can plan accordingly and follow up with additional details.\n\n\nLight snacks and refreshments will be provided as supplies last.\n\nLocation TBA\, but it will certainly be in Dorchester or Hyde Park.\n\nContact Andrealis at amartinez@fairmountcollab.org with any questions. We hope to see you there!
